TennisMate Privacy Policy

TennisMate values your privacy.
This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using either the TennisMate web app (PWA) or the TennisMate Android app available on Google Play.
By using either version of TennisMate, you agree to the terms described here.

We collect the minimum information needed to provide and improve TennisMate’s services:

• Account details: Name and email address
   
• Profile information: Postcode, skill level, bio, and optional profile photo
   
• Availability and match data: Your availability times, match requests, and results
   
• Chat messages: Stored securely for message delivery and record-keeping
   
• Technical information: Device type, operating system, app version, and limited usage analytics (non-personal)
• Images you choose to upload:  Profile photos you upload or take within TennisMate. These are stored securely and only used for your profile or match-related features. 

TennisMate may request access to your camera or photo library when you choose to upload a profile photo. These permissions are optional and only used for the specific action you select

If you grant permissions on your device (such as camera access or photo library access when uploading a profile picture, or notifications for match updates), these permissions are used solely for their intended in-app functions. TennisMate does not access your media, camera, or device data for any other purpose. 

We use your information to:

• Match you with compatible players based on preferences and location
   
• Power your profile and in-app experience
   
• Enable communication between players via chat
   
• Maintain platform functionality, security, and fraud prevention
   
• Analyse aggregate, anonymised usage to improve TennisMate’s performance and reliability
   

We do not sell your personal information.

TennisMate relies on trusted third-party providers:

• Firebase (Google Cloud): Authentication, Firestore database, storage, hosting, and messaging
   
• Vercel: Web app hosting and analytics
   
• Google Play Services: For Android app updates, crash reporting, and push notifications
   

These providers process data on our behalf under strict security and privacy terms consistent with this policy.

We retain your data while your account is active.
If you delete your account or request deletion, we remove or anonymise your personal data except where retention is legally required (for example, fraud-prevention logs or compliance purposes).

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures—encryption, access controls, and secure hosting—to protect your data.
However, no online or mobile system can guarantee absolute security, and you use TennisMate at your own discretion.

You can:

• View or update your profile information in-app
   
• Request correction of inaccurate information
   
• Request deletion of your account and related personal data
   
• Opt out of optional analytics or push notifications
   
• Ask questions about how your data is used by emailing support@tennis-mate.com.au
   

TennisMate is designed for individuals aged 16 and over.
We do not knowingly collect or store personal data from children under 16.
If we learn that such data has been provided, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically.
If we make material changes, we will notify you within the app or via email.
Continued use of TennisMate after updates take effect means you accept the revised policy.
